Carpet weaving through American history and origins
The passage notes carpet weaving as an ancient art, practiced in Babylon 4000 years ago, with the first American carpet mill built in Philadelphia in 1791. The power loom made wool pile carpets widely available, and the U.S. became the largest producer. It also mentions the Folsom people possibly originating in Asia, crossing the Bering Strait in late Pleistocene or early Post-Pleistocene times.
