Funeral services were conducted for Mary Pavlat 83 a Cheyenne county resident at Lodge Pole Methodist church. Native of Bohemia she arrived in 1859 and married John Pavlat in 1869 then homesteaded in Cheyenne county before moving to Lodge Pole. Survived by six sons and four daughters with four of the sons and two grandsons as pallbearers. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery Sidney with Craig Funeral Home in charge.

Henry Horst Sr. Dies at 76 in Gurley Community
Henry Horst Sr., 76, prominent Gurley resident, was found dead in his bed Tuesday morning after years of fragile health. The death shocked his family and close friends, with burial today announced for the Gurley figure. Henry Horst Jr. is noted as his son in the obituary.

William B Miller of Lodge Pole shot a banded mallard drake while hunting near Lodge Pole on the Libby ranch Sunday morning. The band carried a request from the Biological Survey in Washington DC that the person killing the duck notify the survey of the place and date. Miller has complied and awaits word from Washington on where the duck was handed.

Ogalalla rancher buys old Jim Carson ranch holdings
George McGinley of Ogallala announced the purchase of about 20 thousand acres of the old Jim Carson ranch north of Irwin in Cherry county. The deal, by administrators of the late William J Hynes Jr, includes some ranch equipment and livestock. McGinley now owns about 80 thousand acres in Nebraska with his five sons helping operate. Jess McGinley will move to the Carson ranch around November 1. Emil Malmberg remains foreman. The Carson ranch, a well watered fenced square, yields 3,000 to 4,000 tons of valley hay annually.

Lincoln county district court judge J L Tewell sustained a demurrer in Victor Halligan's $50,000 damage suit. Halligan, injured in an Oct 3, 1935 auto crash near McGrew while riding with J L Case of Sutherland, claimed Scotts Bluff County failed to maintain a road. Oil Test Is Finished Along Alliance to Hyannis Route
Tulsa geophysical crew working for Phillips Petroleum completed the preliminary survey between Alliance and Hyannis. Seismograph shots were fired along highway No 2 and near a granite uplift where a 4400 foot well was drilled last year. Additional shots were made near Lakeside to locate a possible structural high. Findings remain undisclosed.

Golden Wedding Anniversary for Lodge Pole Couple
The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs G M Brox of Lodge Pole was celebrated with 175 family and friends at Lodge Pole Methodist Church. Their children attended except Chester of Oregon who phoned in. The Broxes moved from Milford to Lodge Pole in 1920 and have been active citizens. Mr Brox served as police magistrate and on the school board during plans for the new school building. A program featured invocations, vocal duets, history of the honorees, solos, piano, readings, and a quartet.

Brother Of Sidney Lady Is Found Dead
Mrs. Cecil V. Sowards received word Wednesday of the death of her brother, Paul Howland, a Sterling automobile salesman, who was found dead in his car west of Sterling Wednesday morning by a hunter. The Logan county coroner ruled it a suicide with no inquest to be held. Howland had worked on a ranch near Sidney last year and was known in the area.

New Tourist Camp Under Construction Near Mayfair Station
Sidney to add a large tourist camp north of Mayfair station east of town. Slayter supervises four large cabin buildings with eight quarters and plans five more double cabins next spring on Morris Jessen property. By next summer eighteen quarters will exist with ten deluxe heated from a central steam plant and Skelgas facilities. Semi modern units use two earthen stoves and wall beds to maximize space.
