About 250 to 300 veterans and auxiliary members from 120 VFW posts in Nebraska gathered in Sidney for the annual state VFW Fall Conference. Registration ran 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel with a veterans benefits session and a service officer school planned. About 75 oil and gas industry representatives attended a public hearing at the Nebraska courthouse with the Oil and Gas Commission on proposed conservation rules. The commission approved a two mill levy to fund its activities and heard discussions on well spacing and access to records.
