Sidney County Democratic Convention Nominates Local Ticket
The Sidney county convention met at the courthouse on Saturday October 7 at 2 pm with Jon Oberfelder chair and Herman Miller as secretary. Delegates were certified from most precincts and officials nominated by acclamation except sheriff where J W McDaniel defeated L F Closman 20 to 16. convention adjourned sine die.

Commissioner Convention Chooses Rilen For County Post
After the county convention adjourned the second district commissioner convention met with full representation. John Daugherty was elected chairman and Jas. Birdwell secretary. Frank X. Rilen and Mack Radcliff were nominated. Rilen won the vote 10 to 7 as commissioner.

Stock Feeding Boom on Union Pacific Rail Line
The business, started by the late Wm. Studt and now run by his brother Ernest, handles stock shipments east. In September, 300 sheep cars and 39 cattle and horses cars were unloaded and reloaded, totaling about 90 000 sheep and 1 170 head. Expenses for help and feed ran to 1166 dollars, with plans to double as demand grows, and yards will expand to handle 50 to 100 cars daily next season.

W P Snyder reports brome grass shows strong hay and pasture potential with August sowing giving three to four feet tall growth and high seed yield on alfalfa land. Durum wheat yields far above common spring types with up to sixfold gains this season, plus market adaptation trends and a push for durum winter wheat development. Kherson oats advance west with high yields and strong rust resistance, while emmer or speltz gains favor though local yields remain modest.
