Oshkosh District Approves 25800 School Bond Issue
District 56 southwest of Oshkosh votes to issue bonds for a brick school costing 25000 with 65 voters turned out. Five approve and twelve vote against. 15 percent in favor exceeding the 5 percent minimum. Construction will start promptly for use next fall. district currently houses 21 to 25 pupils in two frame buildings. Chadron lifts all city water use restrictions effective immediately.

Teenagers Seek Old Church for Youth Center
Mrs Art Shimp spoke for a 31 person delegation including six or seven teens urging the City Council to buy the old Presbyterian Church and manse for a youth center. The King’s Daughters, a national group formed in 1906, rely on United Fund gifts to aid the Sidney-SOD area. In 1958-59 they served 5100 hot lunches, provided milk, distributed clothing and layettes, and gave Christmas baskets while operating entirely on volunteer work and local contributions.

The Sidney National Guard unit Batte'y B 2nd Howitzer Battalion 168th artillery announces 11 openings on a first come first served basis. Benefits include completing military obligation at home and full army pay for each drill period. Three Unhurt In One Car Mishaps
The Safety Patrol reported two accidents near Sidney within days. On Saturday 21 year old Edward L. Schaff sustained severe lacerations after losing control on a county road near Lorenza. a 17 year old passenger Judy Hiett had minor cuts and vehicle damage was $400 to $500. On Thursday four miles west of Sidney on US 38 Ednad Robertson and passenger Jessie M. Greenhaugh escaped injury when the driver pulled off the road after meeting a truck,side ditch rollover left the car, no injuries reported.

About 70 people attended Sidney Nebraska’s Civitan Charter Night at the National Guard Armory as the new Sidney Civitan Club became the state’s second and joined the Colorado Wyoming district. The itinerary includes meetings in Sidney Norfolk area ONeill Bassett Finlsey Forest Thedford Alliance Gering Kimball Har son and Kimlands oil field tour with oil lands inspections and soil and water commission meetings. The tour begins in Lincoln with a board meeting and ends Saturday after visiting Opallita.
