Oil and Gas Activity Rises With Kimball Discovery

Cheyenne County reports three producers this week led by Kimball discovery No. 1 Case eight miles west and one mile north of Kimball. Nebraska locations total 13 new sites as production dips from last week’s peak to 65 587 barrels daily. Banner Morrill and Kimball counties report new activity and drilled wells, while five wildcat tests came up dry.

Light turnout at adult education registration

Registration for adult education classes is slow with only one class at ten pupils and open enrollment for others. A tentative list shows courses including Beginning shorthand, Bridge, Chess, Golf, Typing, Conversational French, Sewing, and Art, with start dates in October and costs ranging from 7 to 8.20 dollars for 10 to 12 week sessions.

Cheyenne County 4-H Land and Stubble Mulch Winners Named

Cheyenne County 4-H teams swept the land judging and new stubble mulch contest at Alliance District event. David Policky led in land judging with 298 points. John Thurston topped the stubble mulch with 318. Team members included Hutchison Runge McMillen and Thurst on.

Public Invited To View Portland Band Trip Slides

The Sidney High Band trip to the Portland Rose Festival last June is showcased Monday at 7:45 pm in the junior high auditorium. Two projectors run slides simultaneously under Band Auxiliary sponsorship with Ed Hinrichs in charge and Mrs W Vaughn presiding. Refreshments follow in the cafeteria.

Tax Sale Notice Planned for Cheyenne County Delinquents

The Cheyenne County Treasurer announces a list of delinquent real estate properties will be published in The Telegraph next week. Tax sale certificates will be offered on Monday Nov. 9 unless paid prior. payments made before Thursday will remove properties from the published list.

Sidne y high school journalists join about 900 peers at the 28th annual Nebraska High School Press Assn convention at the University of Nebraska November 6 and 7. Gov Ralph Brooks will keynote the banquet as students attend panels on columns and career clinics with industry leaders.

McGinley attacks Hruska during Nebraska tour

Congressman Don McGinley conducted a 38 county Four District tour stopping at Sidney area venues including Sidney High School and Sioux Ordnance Depot. He criticized Senator Hruska’s partisan rhetoric and defended his votes on labor reform and the Landrum Griffin bill while promoting farm program equity and wheat allotment relief. He urged accountability within the Nebraska delegation and explained his congressional role to students at Sidney High School.

Councilmen Face Full Slate Monday With Sunday Closing Mayor Election

The City Council plans to relocate to the City Auditorium Monday evening if needed due to turnout. A public hearing will hear arguments on Sunday Closing Latys with opponents and proponents invited to speak. The meeting will include mayoral election and building applications while also addressing youth age limits in pool halls and legality of differing ages where alcohol is sold.

Independent Bible Baptist Missions Holds Nebraska Conference

The annual meeting of the Independent Bible Baptist Missions was held at First Baptist Church in Sidney from Tuesday to Thursday. Delegates from Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas discussed policies on missionary work in Brazil and Uruguay and opposed Khrushchev inviting to the United States and the Soviet union peace plans. Rev. William Hoages and other church leaders spoke. fifty attendees represented several Colorado and Kansas cities and Nebraska towns. The next meeting is planned for October 1960 in Syracuse, Kansas.
