Dehydrated potatoes boost lamb gains in test at Scottsbluff
A report by Lionel Harris of the Scottsbluff Experiment Station details a 106 day lamb feeding study from November 20, 1944 to March 5, 1945. Three lots tested grain mix alone, half potatoes replacing grain, and two thirds potatoes replacing grain. Lot three showed the best gains, with 108.6 pounds and .40 lb daily gain. Dehydrated potatoes matched or surpassed grain for fattening lambs, with good intake and no major digestion issues.
