Corn Hog Vote Favors 1935 Program in Nebraska
After tabulating 65 Nebraska counties the ballot shows about 1000 votes in favor of continuing the corn hog program in 1935, 27 377 to 26 468. The second contract question is strongly opposed. Ballots were counted in W H Brokaw’s office with 93 000 of 110 000 corn hog farmers as concurrers. Eastern and southern counties favored against the plan while northern and western counties backed it. Nationally the trend favors the 1935 program but opposes the one contract question.

Black Widow Spiders Found Here by Local Woman
Mrs Richard Brooks of Sidney killed spiders at home for weeks and did not fear danger. After reading about western Nebraska horde of black widows she brought a spider to the Telegraph office. The spider bore the hourglass mark, confirming a highly poisonous black widow. She said she had already killed five others, making six total.

Pheasant Season Opens Across Nebraska Today
Nimrods are expected in the field for the opening of pheasant season in Nebraska from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. next Thursday October 18. Daily bag limits are four male birds or three males and one female, with possession limits matching. Birds may be inspected by wardens on request, and any accidental hens in excess must be retrieved and turned over to a warden for disposal to charity or state institutions. Killing hens and leaving them in fields will be prosecuted. Ownership of pheasants rests with the state.

LeRoy Taylor Dies at Gurley After Illness
LeRoy B. Taylor a 49 year old Gurley resident and former Sidney merchant died at his home in Gurley Tuesday after a nine month bed illness. Born in Morton Indiana in 1884 he came to Cheyenne county twenty years ago and worked in Sidney then opened his own business at Gurley. His widow Mrs Taylor is ill but plans to attend the funeral at Grace Lutheran church Gurley at 2 this afternoon with interment to follow under Rev Dowler’s officiation.

Two Dalton Ladies Interred This Week
Funeral services were held for two Dalton residents this week. Mrs. John W. Smith, a west Dalton resident for 17 years, was laid to rest at Dalton cemetery after services at Dalton Lutheran church.
