Six Cheyenne County boards Sidney Dalton Gurley Lodgepole Potter and Lorenzo join Catholic School District Superintendents and others in urging voters to vote 301 down on November 3 1964. The measure would alter the state’s education leadership by electing a commissioner and appointing an eight member state board, shifting accountability and control of the education system.

Draughon to open business school at Sidney site
A Draughon College of Commerce unit will lease Marathon Oil Co. space at 5th Ave and Illinois St in Sidney to open a Business Institute of Sidney. Enrollment is planned from 75 to 100 with classes starting in June. The program covers basic business and secretarial training with potential for computer courses via Kansas City.

Cattle Sale At Sidney Livestock Plans Large Offering
More than a thousand head are slated for listing at the Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion next Saturday. The Eldred Ranch in the sandhills contributes 250 head, with local consignors including Keith Sprenger Arvin Livingston and Harvey Miles. Last week steer calves sold to 25.25, yearlings 20.95, and heifer calves 22.10, as twelve loads were shipped to eastern feeders. Listings are accepted up to sale time. Eastern buyers remain keen on the good cattle passing through the ring, says manager Dave Truss.

Governor To Speak At Panhandle County Officials Talk

Income Bracket Study Finds Favorable Local Conditions
A Cheyenne County income survey shows 65.9 percent of households post taxes earn $4,000 or more, higher than the national 60.7 percent and West North Central 57.1 percent. The data, from Sales Management, notes a growing trend of families moving into higher brackets aided by more wives in the workforce, with 11.6 percent in $7,000 to $10,000, 37.4 percent in $4,000 to $7,000, and 17.4 percent in $2,500 to $4,000."
