Government to drill artesian wells in western Nebraska
F H Newell US Army engineer visited Lincoln and discussed plans to sink artesian wells in western Nebraska to determine depths for a steady water flow. Tests suggest 1000 feet in eastern Kansas Nebraska and Dakota, with deeper depths in western Nebraska. Field Engineer Darton will select locations as Newell advocates irrigation storage in Wyoming and Colorado. It may be too late for canal work this year.
