Nebraska total oil output averaged 68 123 barrels daily last week setting a new record. The prior high of 66 864 barrels daily was recorded two weeks earlier.

Fire Prevention Week to Honor National Program

Fire Prevention Week observed nationwide next week marks the 37th anniversary of the presidential proclamation. In Sidney firefighters plan talks and equipment demonstrations at schools and a building destruction event a week from Sunday. At Sioux Ordinance Depot special attention will be given to fire safety with a week-long program led by Fire Chief H. W. Ells under Capt. L. P. Srdich. Cinef Clls and crew will visit shops offices homes and the depot school to discuss and demonstrate key safety points and first aid.

Kennedy Rally Coming to Scottsbluff Dinner and Rally Planned

Sen John Kennedy will visit Scottsbluff for a dinner rally at the Moose Club at 6 pm and a main event at Terry's Arena at 8 15 pm on Wednesday October 14 Tickets for dinner are five dollars per plate and include rally admission Rally only tickets are fifty cents. Tickets are available from local party organizers in Scottsbluff Mitchell Chadron and Alliance and nearby towns.

Khrushchev Visit To Cost U.S. 150000

Washington reports the 13 day visit of Nikita Khrushchev ran about 150000 dollars. Officials say the total may not be fully tallied yet but it is described as the costliest state visit to date. The standard nationwide tour typically costs under 160000 dollars.

Area Sheep and Wool Producers Back Wool Promotion Plan

Sheep and wool producers in six counties vote to retain the lamb and wool promotion program. Total 164 voters with 131 yes and 26 no. Deuel County narrowly opposed. The plan, between the American Sheep Producers Council and the Secretary of Agriculture, funds marketing with deductions capped at one cent per pound for shorn wool and five cents per hundredweight for both marketed unshorn lambs and wool.

New TV Tower Up At Sioux Ordnance Depot
