Chappell Man Heads Nebraska Oil and Gas Commission

Ray L. Smith named chairman of the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission as it begins emergency rules for 20 days. Fred Enders and G. H. Doran serve on the panel. A public hearing is set for Oct 15-16 at the Cheyenne County Courthouse to draft permanent regulations. The commission also imposes a two mill levy on crude oil and natural gas sales starting Oct 1. Smith notes ongoing site search for a headquarters.

Snow and frost hit the Panhandle with chilly forecast

A cold snap brought the Panhandle its first frost and intermittent snow on Tuesday in Sidney with about an inch of precipitation and 38 degree highs. Forecast calls for scattered rain or snow with 30s lows and 40s highs, five to ten degrees below normal for several days.

Sidney High Band To Lead Laramie Parade

Sidney's High School band has been chosen to lead the parade at the University of Wyoming Band Day event. Band Director George Hinn announced twenty nine bands invited to participate this weekend in connection with the Wyoming Utah football game scheduled Saturday in Laramie.

Dalton woman E M Warren dies of heart attack at 69

Mrs E M Warren 69 of Dalton died after a heart attack at the family home two weeks after her husband also died of a heart attack. Funeral arrangements by Craig Mortuary pending. she was found in the kitchen by her son Melvin who spoke with her two hours earlier by telephone. She leaves a daughter, three sons, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters and a brother. Survivors include Dorothy Schuler, Melvin Warren, Vernon Warren, Ralph Warren and others in Nebraska and Ohio.

Graveside Rites Held For Hippen Infant Son

Graveside rites were held Tuesday morning in Dalton Cemetery for John Hippen Jr. who died at birth. He was the son of John and Rudy Jessen Hippen of Martin 3 D. Survived by two brothers Tom and Tim and grandparents Morris Jescen of Sidney and Louis Hagemester of Dalton.

Two-Car Viaduct Crash Injures Three Near Sidney

At 12 30 pm Tuesday a two car collision at the viaduct east of Sidney sent three people to Memorial Hospital. A2C James Murtagh of McMullen AFB California and his wife were injured along with William Rourke of Sidney. Murtagh was dismissed last night and the others remained in fair condition with severe lacerations.

1960 Imperial Unveiled Friday By Maddox Motors

The 1960 Imperial from Chrysler will be shown Friday at Maddox Motors. The new model marks the first major styling update since the Imperial became a separate line in 1957.
