Two Home Fires Reported By Sidney Fire Department

Sidney volunteers battled two city fires this week. At 3 31 p m Wednesday a blaze at 1711 2nd Sioux Villa home of Mrs Wilma Benkusky caused 150 damage to the structure and 100 to contents. a dog rescued from under a bed was unharmed. This morning at 9 10 a m a kitchen fire at 2410 Coronado Court caused by a burning pan melted a burner and sparked into cupboards with smoke damage. property loss not yet estimated.

Christmas Seal Drive Lags in Early Donations

First envelope opening of the Christmas Seal contributions was held at the home of Mrs Elizabeth Schwasnick, chairwoman. Assisting were Miss Mable Nielsen, Miss Marie Nichelson, Mrs Lavone Niece and Mrs Alice Blair of the local Business and Professional Club. Early donations totaled 368250, far below last year's 905 at this stage. Mrs Schwasnick urged residents to mail contributions promptly.
