About 400 officers attended the American Legion Mid-Winter Conference at the Yancey Hotel from November 30 to December 2. Cold Weather Halts Leaf Rust in Nebraska Wheat Fields
Dr. John Weihing of the University of Nebraska Extension notes that cold weather has arrested leaf rust development in Nebraska wheat. Much of the reddish cast has faded as infected leaves dried up, and fields now appear healthier overall. He adds that no rust severity seems to have killed all foliage and Hessian fly caused death in some tillers, not rust.
