Nebraska National Guard officials announced the Sidney armory was accepted after final inspection. The $189,235 structure on Legion Park’s edge includes a 9 by 60 foot drill floor, 18 rooms, a rifle range, kitchen, garages, vault and classrooms. The facility will host public functions but has no units’ dedicated rooms.

Kinnersley Convicted Of Third Offense Drink Driving

William Kinnersley of Sidney was found guilty by a 12 man district court jury of third offense driving while under the influence. The verdict was unanimous after about an hour of deliberation. He plans an appeal to the Nebraska Supreme Court while free on a 1500 dollar bond.

Speculators Attacked By Sidney City Council

Sidney City Councilman Rudy Munderloh urged ending speculation in the school land addition to speed housing. He called for utilities and sidewalks before selling high priced lots, proposing to charge speculators or finance lots via sewer hookups. The council also created Sewer District No. 34 to serve three builders and two unsold state lots, with financing questions to be resolved.

Check Writer Given Two Year Sentence

Sidney Whitford, 50, of Albion Wisconsin, confessed check writer, was sentenced to two years in the Nebraska State Penitentiary yesterday by District Judge J Nisley. Whitford pleaded guilty to writing a 19 70 no account check on November 6 and passing it to a Sidney clothing house.

17 Month Old Child Dies Funeral Today

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM for Lanny Ray Johnson 17 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford D. Johnson of Potter. He died Monday morning at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after a four and a half hour stay. Rev Theo Wacker officiated First Lutheran Church Potter. Burial in Potter cemetery. Survivors include parents two brothers Randy J and Gary E and grandparents Mr and Mrs John Engel Sidney and Mr and Mrs Herbert Johnson Potter.
