Panhandle Weather Forecast Warns of Mild Rise

Fair conditions and slowly rising temperatures through Tuesday. Tonight's low 5 to 15 degrees, Tuesday highs 40 to 50, precipitation under five percent. Five day outlook shows near normal temps with variable changes, highs 35 to 45 and lows 10 to 20, with scattered snow midweek and again later in the period.

Co-Op Named Second in 13-State Appliance Sales

The Farmers Union Co-Op Gas and Oil Co. of Sidney earned recognition for top appliance sales in a 13-state area, ranking second to Scottsbluff at a Kansas City meeting. Stan Wells received a Samsonite briefcase, with Lee Wells and Clayton Mahaffey present. The Nebraska Panhandle lies in Colorado District. The trio returned to Sidney last Wednesday.

Oil-Gas Leases to be Sold on Dec 5 by State Board

The State Board of Educational Lands and Funds will hold an oil and gas lease sale on December 5. Readable fragments list tracts in Frontier County and Scotts Bluff County including sections 16-7-26 and 16-8-27. Sioux County tract 16-29-54 and all of section 36-21-55 are included.

Panhandle Partners Propose Panhandle State Set Up

Residents of the Panhandle plan to form a new self named state in Far Western Nebraska. A meeting at the Drake Hotel will discuss founding a 11 county region with a mythical capital and elected senators as a way to boost economic cultural and religious attributes. The effort aims to coexist with Western Nebraska United Chambers of Commerce and pledges equality and rights for all residents. The declaration anticipates a January 1 1968 establishment date for The State of Far Western Nebraska USA.

Personal tax on nonprofit items clarified in Nebraska

Nebraska officials clarified that certain personal property items not used for profit are exempt from property tax. VFW Chief to Visit Scottsbluff Monday December 4

Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander in Chief Joseph A. Scerra will visit Scottsbluff on Monday December 4. He will speak at a banquet at VFW Hall and address the Lions Club at noon, recounting Vietnam service and election observation duties. He traveled to the Far East and Vietnam, with a long VFW career since 1945.

Trailer hits car on county road in Peetz Thanksgiving Day

A two wheel trailer pulled by a vehicle driven by Edward Hartway 17 of Peetz broke loose on a Peetz county road and struck Kee nan Klug s parked car in Sidney. The Clark County report estimates 200 dollars in damage to the Klug car. The incident occurred on Thanksgiving Day according to the Colorado Highway Patrol.

Mrs. Nellie Diederich 66 Dies in Denver Rites Planned

Nellie R. Diederich age 66 died at a Denver hospital after surgery and nine days hospitalization. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gehrig & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Milfred E. Douglas officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Born Jan 27 1901 at Blair Nebraska, she lived in Yankton S D Scottsbluff and Valley before moving to Sidney in 1943. Married first to Charles Kruse, then Roy E. Diederich. Survived by five sons three daughters and numerous relatives including Myra Beck of Mission S D and Jerald Diederich of Hooker Oklahoma. Also four sisters and one brother.

Wheat Queen is Governor Guest

Lincoln Nebrasaskas new wheat queen Patrice Herboldsheimer of Potter attended Gov Norbert Tiemanns weekly news conference. The Potter High School senior won the title at the Wheat Growers Convention in Alliance and will attend a National Wheat Growers meeting in Wichita Kansas in January. She plans to appear at county meetings and the State Fair in her role. Also announced were three governor candidates Pete Horacek Don Riggs and Laurie Marsh at the Hi Y and Tri Hi Y model government event.

Crowley Rites Scheduled at St Patrick's Church

Funeral services for David A. Crowley 74 will be held at 9 30 a m Wednesday at St Patrick s Church. He died Monday at Memorial Hospital after two weeks in hospital and two years of failing health. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Rosary Tuesday evening at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. Crowley born November 24 1893 in Cedar Rapids moved to Sidney in 1945 and was WW I veteran and traffic manager at Sioux Army Depot. Kimball Holds Two Runaways

A pair of runaways from Minneapolis are held in Kimball County Jail after arrest west of Bushnell Saturday morning by Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Richard Larsen. The youths are Mark S. Kramer 17 and Steven B. Bratt 16. Kramer drove and owned the automobile.
