Observers Say Winter Wheat Prospects Good
The Cargill crop bulletin notes excellent prospects for winter wheat in Kansas and Nebraska with well developed roots and cattle pasturing on many fields unlike last year. Mrs Frenzel Rites Friday in Peetz Nebr Funeral
Funeral services were held at Peetz for Mrs Bertha M Frenzel 64 who died Tuesday in Denver after three days hospitalization. Rev Glenn McPherson officiated at Evangelical United Brethren church with burial in Sterling Colorado. A Peetz resident 27 years she was born February 25 1887 in Otoe Nebraska to Herman and wife. Survived by widower five children and siblings.

Court sets four jury cases in Nebraska district session
Four cases were scheduled for jury trial in the November term of District Court under Judge I J Nisley of North Platte. Twenty four jurymen were chosen for the session opening Wednesday morning with Harvey Talhelm vs Vernon Beamann first on the docket for 261.94 damages from a May 17 auto crash. Other cases include E L Canady vs Elmer J Krueger and Thomas Lumber Co for 3650, Sam Robinson vs Ed Mitchell for 7500, and Carlson vs Langley et al. The State of Nebraska vs Albert Kaus for second offense drunken driving was dismissed on appeal. Also dismissed was State vs C B Innes for assault. Olsen Grain Co. won $1567.27 against Neal Dunlavy. The exact site lies SE SE SW of Section 30 17 48, about three miles east of Dalton, with a test well for Joe Juhan and C D Edmundson on a farmout from Ankeny and Henkle of Sidney. Ohio Oil Co announces two new wells in Cheyenne County including the Kallhoff No 1 wildcat near Dalton and an offset in the North Sidney field. As of Monday seven drilling locations were active or staked in Cheyenne County north to the county line, with tools stuck and saltwater issues noted at several sites.

Mrs. Babcock Dies After Long Illness in Denver
Mrs. Ray Babcock 58, Sidney resident, died Friday morning in St. Joseph's Hospital Denver after a 15 month illness. Services were held Monday at Olinger Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Benjamin F. Schwartz and Rev. Swan officiating. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Pallbearers were N. S. Miller, A. E. Wright, Clark Fuller, A. S. Hardy, F. L. B. Goodwin, M. W. Osborn. Memorials to Cancer Fund. Olga F. Cords, born November 9, 1893 in Grand Island, married Ray Babcock November 11, 1913. They lived in Potter before moving to Sidney in 1934. She belonged to the Methodist Church, Providence Chapter OES, and was past Matron of Potter U. & S. chapter. Survived by husband, father Emil Cords of Potter, three daughters Mrs. Henry C. May of Los Angeles, Mrs. Robert D. Lundberg of Glendale, Ariz., and Mrs. Chester L. Hansen of Phoenix, and four grandchildren.

Beating Leaves Victim with Sixty Head Stitches
Robert Lucero a 32 year old Mexican worker at the Sioux Ordnance Depot was released from a local hospital with sixty stitches in his head after an assault police described as among the worst. Lawrence Lake a Talaquah Oklahoma transient is jailed on charges of assault and robbery following a Saturday night attack at the Plainview Hotel. Lake allegedly struck Lucero with an iron and a hammer then fled. Lucero was afterward found dazed near the Overland Cafe and hospitalized. Lake was arrested after police traced a blood trail to the hotel and later found him at a tavern. Authorities say Lake may have exchanged bloody clothes for others at a private home and left the blood stained hammer behind. The case awaited potential presentation to the current district court jury.
