K. C. Lasseter reports strong winds in Sidney this week. A letter blown from his hands Sunday morning near Boyd's cigar store led to a search, and Wednesday H. E. Gapen delivered it to the Telegraph Office after a workman found it near the corner of 14th avenue and Linden street eight blocks away. The note remained in decent condition despite the journey.

An automobile driven by J B Hare of Deerlodge Montana struck and killed eight year old Harry Jimenez on a highway seven miles west of Kimball on Monday. County Attorney Orville Wisdom exonerated Hare of blame saying Jimenez was heading to school and apparently ran across the road. The boy’s parents Alfred and Mrs Jimenez and a younger brother survive.

Alert Duncan station agent helps nab automobile thief
The Union Pacific agent at Duncan nine miles west of Columbus stopped a theft suspect after spotting a stolen car abandoned along the highway and boarding a freight train. The man, calling himself Robert Cleary of Chicago, was arrested in Columbus and returned to Sidney to face charges of automobile stealing and breaking into a junior high building. The car owner was Myrna Radcliffe of Sidney. the thief had a certificate of ownership in Radcliffe’s name. The Radcliffe car was found out of gasoline in Duncan, then moved to Columbus.

Harry E. Johnson, 43, an accountant for Western Public Service at Scottsbluff, died after a bullet wound to the chest. Police said the death appeared accidental and opened an inquiry. Johnson, from Tarkio, Missouri, was at the basement to shine shoes when a shot rang out. His son Raymond found him on the floor with an automatic pistol nearby. the clip was empty and one bullet remained in the chamber.

Letters Of Historic Interest Are Found In Nebraska Display
Manuscript letters between Major Frank North and General Sheridan’s headquarters from 1876 1877 have been framed for the Nebraska Historical Society museum at the capitol by Robert Bruce of New York. The first letter dated August 1876 commands North to recruit 100 Pawnee from the Wichita agency to fight Sioux, via Fort Caddo. The second letter dated April 13 1877 from Sidney reports 10 million dollars paid to western Nebraska farmers under the old AAA crop programs through last July 31, with Scotts Bluff leading in sugar beet payments and Cheyenne Kimball counties also substantial. the total reflects net profit on bumper crop years.
