Sidney City Council approved a new Sewage disposal plant ordinance funding via a 1.6 mill tax levy and a sewer service charge based on winter water use. Contracts were awarded to Cham bers Construction of Lincoln for $155,216 and A C Smith Co of Scottsbluff for $11,417.20. Building permits were also issued to Frank Smith for a $3,000 frame house and Bnyder Clothing for steel windows costing about $150. next meeting set for Friday December 5.

Nationals Sent Out Eight Remain After Beet Harvest
Fifteen more Mexican nationals were shipped out Friday to return to their homes after working the sugar beet crop. Eight nationals remain to complete the harvest and will be sent back to Mexico at its end. Scottsbluff interpreter Flenny Castinado accompanied the group and plans to visit Mexico City.

Ice and Snow Hit Western Nebraska Ahead of Thanksgiving
Western Nebraska endured a cold snap with ten below readings in Sidney and record lows in Scottsbluff. Snow and ice coated roads, ice strips on Highway 30 raised danger, but no serious crashes. Streets were cleared as traffic improved, and farmers reported harvests and moisture benefiting winter wheat. Veterans Reinstate Insurance Policies in Nebraska
More than 5,315 World War II veterans in Nebraska have reinstated SupeeGGI policies valued at over 29.88 million dollars in the past nine months under liberal reinstatement rules. Lincoln regional office manager Ashley Westmoreland says holders of lapsed term policies have less than two months to reinstate under the plan. Until January 1, 1948, veterans need only a three question form and two monthly premiums for the lapse month and current month. Beginning January 1, 1948, policies lapsed more than three months require a medical exam to qualify.

Jack L. Baker was appointed last week as custodian for the local National Guard equipment.
