Wheat Exports To Get Attention At State Convention

Nebraska Wheat Growers Association plans debate at its Sidney convention December 3-5 on a six million dollar export venture to ship high quality Nebraska wheat to foreign markets. Herbert Hughes of Imperial notes possible marketing pools and risks from USDA grading standards and Canadian Manitoba comparisons. Bruce Hagemeister of Hemingford heads the marketing committee and says the export plan is new and requires study.

Drought Relief Application Sent From Logan County

Logan County Colorado seeks drought relief pending final USDA approval. A Sterling meeting of 25 farmers noted about half the county’s acreage is affected with rainfall and crop conditions well below normal. If approved, aid would pay seven dollars and fifty cents per ton for hay and one dollar and fifty cents per hundredweight reduction on feed grain costs. Farmers would apply through the County Farm Home Administration office in Sterling.

Accident East Of City Damages Cars In Highway 30 Collision

A minor crash 600 feet east of Sidney city limits on Highway 30 caused an estimated 140 dollars in damage at 8 40 a m today. Westbound cars collided with Jessie White 35 of Sidney hitting Frank Trowbridge 34 of Sidney from the rear. No injuries were reported by the Nebraska Safety Patrol.

Ohio Geologist Heading to Libya from Sidney District

Jack W. Myers a geologist and geophysicist with The Ohio Oil Co Sidney district will be transferred to Libya shortly after the first of the year. He will join other Ohio employees in expanding exploratory work in northern Africa. The Myers family 1157 Country Club Drive have begun taking shots required for travel. Several other Sidney district employees have moved to Libya in the past year.

Train rider faces charges after boarding without ticket

Delta M. Branch, 38, of Watson Arkansas, bought a one way ticket from Laramie to Cheyenne, boarded the City of San Francisco at Laramie, rode past Cheyenne, and was arrested at Sidney after being removed from the train. Union Pacific officials prepared charges for illegal train riding.
