Major Charles M. Brown of Deming New Mexico, a Japanese prisoner for almost four years, stopped in Sidney on Tuesday morning to visit his parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown of Lewellen Nebraska. He headed home for Thanksgiving after being captured at Bataan. He recalled the Woregens in Sidney and asked to be remembered to them. his mother Magie McKee was from an old Sidney family, and his father was a longtime Lewellen wholesale grocer, farmer and stockman.

Adelheid Heitman 65 wife of Helmuth died Tuesday at Dalton hospital after long illness. A Nebraska native born April 13 1880 she lived in Marysville Seward County before marrying in 1899. Two Escapees Sentenced After Omaha Recapture
Two 17 year old youths from the state reformery were recaptured in Omaha after a car theft and break in attempt. District Judge Henry Bea Mon day imposed three year penitentiary terms. Police fired three shotgun blasts to halt the fleeing car. Names: Darrell V. Knox and Edward P Cox alias Manuel Rodiguerezes. Harold C. Brown 18 of Omaha faces pending charges.

Bus Passenger Dies En Route To Grand Island
Mrs Edna Hunter 38 of Laramie Wyoming died on an eastbound bus near Potter Tuesday night. Her body was brought to The Craig Home for Funerals in Sidney. She was en route to visit her parents in Grand Island. Her husband Robert Hunter works for a packing company in Laramie. Arrangements were not completed at press time.

Sherrerd Garage Destroyed By Wednesday Fire
A garage at the E. S. Sherrerd home at 1515 Maple Street burned Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. H. R. Logan spotted the blaze and rang in the alarm. Firefighters arrived to find the interior largely consumed but the walls standing, and they prevented spread to nearby structures.
