Post reports over 3000 dollars spent last year and a record membership near 150 with widespread community projects.

Sidney Juvenile Band Fringes New Uniform Fund Drive

The Sidney Juvenile Band raised about 500 dollars at a community sale in the former Byars store, boosting total funds toward new uniforms to roughly 1200 with other donations and events. A Friday concert at the U S A theatre will headline the next campaign efforts in khaki uniforms. The program features marches, sketches, recitations, songs, and a full evening’s entertainment. The corn palace was dismantled Monday for the upcoming 1925 Fall Festival.

J H Mahr 19 Killed by Switch Engine

Jacob Li Mahr a longtime Union Pacific foreman at Sidney was killed instantly when stepped into the path of a switch engine near the Central avenue crossing. The accident, ruled unavoidable, occurred about 5 50 pm as he inspected a westbound engine. Funeral services were held with Masonic burial at Sidney cemetery.

Sidney and Kimball school heads hurt in wreck

Liebendorfer superintendent of Sidney public schools and Merie Green former Sidney high coach and Kimball high school official were seriously injured when Green's Buick plunged through a guard rail four miles south of Dalton. The crash left both men pinned. Green lifted the car to free Liebendorfer. Green suffered a shoulder blade fracture and Liebendorfer three broken ribs. They survived after hours of danger and expect recovery. the car was wrecked.

Town Team Plans Thanksgiving Games Against Grand Island and Omaha

Sidney Independent manager Oakley Otten announces a Thanksgiving double with Grand Island Independents at Grand Island and the Omaha Olympics in Omaha on Sunday November 30. The 22 man Sidney squad leaves next Wednesday. Captain Maynard loach may be sidelined by Armistice day injuries. The Grand Island squad is strong and Omaha features ex college and high school stars. Sidney has not been scored upon in three years and seeks real challenge this fall.

Change in Sidney chamber luncheons time

The Sidney chamber of commerce shifts luncheons from noon to the first and third Monday evenings each month at the Union Pacific hotel. Secretary J. W. Johnson announced the board decision after member surveys. The next meeting, Monday December 1 at 6 30 pm, may feature an outside speaker. Father and Son day featured Rev Dr Samuel Light as chair.

County's Biggest Wheat Grower Sees Prosperity

Sam Maley, Cheyenne county’s leading fall wheat grower with 2000 acres, reports ideal soil and climate. He notes a 25 percent rise in fall wheat planting and predicts a rapid recovery as farmers cut debt and invest cautiously. He favors some corn oats and barley but says fall wheat remains the main crop for Cheyenne county.

Gravel work on seven mile Gurley Huntsman highway progress slow

Work on the seven mile Gurley to Huntsman highway advances slowly with only about two miles gravelled after nearly two months. A night shift is used part of the time to speed the project.

Sidney gridiron winners seek two more league games

Sidney high school beat Kimball county 28 to 7 on the Kimball field marking their renewed rivalry. Leslie Bentley starred with a late drive while Lester Clark and Miniken delivered key plays. Sidney faces Scottsbluff Friday and Chappell Thanksgiving, with Coach Horn refining forward passes to counter Scottsbluff’s attack.
