Exterior is stuccoed with pulverized granite and green trim, a green steel roof, and a new signal tower across the tracks. The elevated loading platform and expanded waiting room add comfort, while a modern heating plant, cement coal bin, and updated offices and baggage areas enhance operations. Depot frames were retained, agent M A Shipman is praised for securing the fine facility for Sidney.

CUT HOURS OF RIP TRACK FORCE AT SIDNEY
The Union Pacific rip track force at Sidney has its working week cut from forty eight to forty hours, causing a one day weekly lay off for 90 to 100 men. Two Narrowly Escape Death In Car Wreck
Mrs. Rupert Campbell and her sister in law Elvira Campbell escaped death when their Buick touring car overturned twice on the Lincoln highway near the Bentley ranch three miles west of Sidney. Campbell drove lost control on soft dirt, car caught fire, she crawled through the windshield and freed Elvira. Both sustained serious cuts and burns. seven stitches were needed.

Sol Willis longtime Fire Chief and Ernest Worden head of the volunteer association were ousted in the annual officers election last Thursday night. George Davis will replace Willis as chief and Al Sutter takes Worden's secretary role. New president is Charles Couch with Carl Ledbetter as vice president. Tom Mills becomes assistant chief, M W Osborn treasurer, Lee Gain joins the board of trustees. A committee of John McCleneghan Frank Tobin and Robert Barlow will draft new bylaws. Officials take office January 1 after an 18 to 15 vote.

John O Shea Loges of Scottsbluff, a former bank bookkeeper in Sidney, lost a small toe when a shotgun discharged while cleaning guns at the Baltes home near Scottsbluff. The blast also injured two others. he was taken to Scottsbluff hospital where surgeons removed remaining toe fragments.
