A Wednesday dedicatory rite crowded the new St Patrick s Church in Sidney with Rt Rev J A Duffy leading the mass and a later confirmation for fifty five. The building was praised for its stained glass, altar, statuary and organ loft as visitors and clergy attended a banquet at the Union Pacific hotel.
Mrs. David Huff came home Thursday from a several weeks visit with her children at York, this state.
Willie and Amil Englert of Lodge pole motored this way Wednesday, a brief local note of travel by the two residents.
Sam T. Woolfe of Chappell visited Sidney on Wednesday. Henry Ronniker of Lodgepole was in the city Saturday. A boy was born to Mr and Mrs Frank Despain one day earlier in the week. Peter Koepp of Ickes post office visited Tuesday. Co L Tate and John Frans of Lodgepole stayed overnight Thursday. James Morgan and Joseph Brown of Lodgepole spent Tuesday night here. F L VanGorder returns to Jay from Denver where he spent a week recuperating. Miss Lydia Davison visited Dalton with Mrs Emma Ravert. W T Robbins on the north side suffered a stroke a week ago and remains in precarious condition with nurse care.
Mr and Mrs Wade returned Thursday from Downs Kansas where they were called two weeks earlier due to the death of Mr Wade's father.
Alice Cary Kreuger born May 19 1872 in Portage New York died November 14 1914 in Omaha at age 42 after gallstone surgery and complications. Survived by husband Richard Kreuger eight children Win Elmer Joane Earl Grace Chester Una two brothers and a stepmother, funeral at Lutheran church conducted by Rev Trygsted with local lodge members attending. Her death follows a rapid decline after initial hopeful recovery, described as a guiding presence in family, church, and community.
Mrs Banta had breakfast with her son in Potter and lunch with the Spiker family north of Sidney, then noted that her own special trains run as she commands them, implying a convenient travel routine.
Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Saunders and Mrs. Pearl Saunders of Oshkosh and Mrs. Klapp of Liscon visited from Friday until Wednesday with their relatives, the N. G. Brewer family, coming over by auto.

The court house drinking fountain is out for cold weather and water is scarce. Teachers add classroom attractions with box socials raising funds. Miss Anna Chambers aid Kurz school and Miss Edith Oldershaw Kurth school net over thirty dollars for dictionaries and library books.
The ladies of the South divide organized the Helping Hand Club on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. J. W. Nelson as President, Mrs. W. Hiett as Vice President, and Mrs. Payzant as Secretary. The next meeting will be hosted by Mrs. Walter Nelson.
A large crowd attended the sale west of town on Thursday with all stock sold. Unbroken horses brought up to 140 dollars cows up to 65 dollars and two year old heifers in lots around 54 dollars. The event had no reserve as prices satisfied the seller. Fundingsland and Millett conducted the sale and expect fifteen more sales in the coming weeks.
The Tobin Opera House management has presented pleasing attractions and promises more for the winter season. Saturday night Hans Hanson delighted a large audience and the prior Saturday Alma, Where Do You Live? drew a full house. Sidney residents feel the strain of hard times but still seek good shows when available.
An attempted entry occurred Thursday night at the Sidney Mercantile store. A south door was pried and the lock sprung but the intruder was interrupted. The door has since been reinforced to deter future attempts amid rising living costs.
J A Bentley relocates his real estate office to rooms above the deal Theater. The vacated spaces are rented by T E Wood and Howard Adams who plan to open a modern confectionary and cigar shop. They aim to begin business next Monday. Dedrich moves his sugar shop to the McAleese building pool room on Second Street for direct supervision of both ventures.
Sylvester Kremer, boilermaker helper, took a short vacation to western Iowa and Minnesota. Robert Duncan and wife spend a few days in Denver on business and will return soon. John McCart of Julesburg visited Wednesday to repair the water crane west of the U P passenger depot. F D Schermerhorn, Supervisor of B and B Department, inspected recent roundhouse repairs in Sidney Thursday. William Grosze of Potter arrived in town Monday.
Inspector G A Gregory visited the week and spoke at the high school on the European war and watchful waiting policy. The basketball team will tour Thanksgiving games against Albion Elgin and Newman Grove. Miss Turner from Cedar Rapids taught Palmer method to seventh graders. Col Leeds gave a lecture, followed by a planned colored male quartet. Construction at the new high school progresses, with basement heat supplemented by two oil stoves. Dunkard school rooms stay comfortable until the new building. heating remains a concern.
A regulation width crossing is being laid between the Stewitts building and Jacksons store. It promises great convenience in wet weather by reducing unnecessary roundabout travel within the block.
A party including E. J. Sweet George Baker Glenn Jackson and Frank Williams hunted along the Guernsey line for a week slaughters ducks and returned Tuesday reporting glorious sport.
O. R. Owens relocates his Ford garage into the new Miles building east of the Odd Fellows hall. The business has outgrown its former quarters and presents an inviting front. Mrs. Anna Konst of Burlington, Wisconsin, came Tuesday to attend Mrs. Kreuger’s funeral and will stay a month with her brother and the Kreuger children.
Mr and Mrs J D Copley of Fullerton Nebraska spent the past week visiting Mr and Mrs Fred Pegden adding a note of neighborly hospitality to regional social rounds.
Mrs. C. Co. Darnell paid a social visit to Gering last week, stopping with her companion Mrs. R. R. Carlign. The pair enjoyed time with local friends during the stay.
Co W Perry of Kearney planned a business mission to Sidney on Monday, aiming to meet partners and discuss potential deals. Local sources note the trip reflects ongoing commerce efforts between the two cities.
Ira S. Kline and Miss Helen E. Cook united in marriage on Tuesday November 11 at Bridgeport. Rev W H Davis of the Dunkard church officiated. The groom is M M Kline's son, a Sidney graduate. the bride is Fred Cook's daughter. Telegraph extends best wishes for their life together.
A courthouse ceremony on Thursday November 18 1914 united Otis E Rhodes with Ida Belle Bowser and Robert Maus with Nellie Maus in marriages near Lodgepole. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Edward Bowser. Afterwards the couples traveled to Sterling Colorado then to homes near Crook. A reception will be held tomorrow at Lodgepole.
The exchange notes new levies under the war revenue act. November 1 imposes taxes on bankers brokers and commission merchants. December 1 brings adhesive stamp taxes on bonds stock agreements products notes and other items with varied rates.
