Death of Andrew Treat a Chappell pioneer
Andrew Treat, a early settler who owned the McHatton ranch west of Chappell and once invested in Lodgepole business, died Monday after attempting death by his own action. His mind was affected, leading to removal to Hastings asylum. Funeral services were held in Shelton under the Masonic Lodge, he had joined the Chappell lodge and received the master degree in August 1893.

Kimball Man Kills Wife and Self in Tragedy
Joseph Kinney of Kimball shot his wife Leonie Pyles Kinney then killed himself at 4:30 pm Thursday. Mrs. Kinney died instantly, he died an hour later. Kinney ran a pool hall. their marriage ended amid jealousy. The couple’s baby was placed in a neighbor’s care. Kinney, son of J J Kinney of Sterling, Colorado, was a longtime Kimball County ranchman and attorney. Catherine and Winifred Kinney traveled from Sterling to Kimball via Sidney Friday.
