Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Auxiliary from District 2 met in Sidney for a quarterly conference. Rodents include commanders Schumacher and Olson presiding, with a large delegation from Scotts Bluff and several posts attending at City Auditorium and Yendis Cafe. The gathering featured dinners, talks, ritual presentations, and plans for a Christmas party at Cheyenne Hospital. Geu Henry of Sidney was elected chairman of the First District Farmers Union at the annual session in Sidney City Auditorium. Raymond Crawford of Alliance became vice chairman and Russell Olson of Lodgepole was chosen secretary treasurer. The meeting drew representation from most district counties and featured talks on the Farmers Union Creamery and related boards. The next meeting is planned for Berea in March 1952.

Sugar Beets First 1951 Payments Total 18.4 Million
The Great Western Sugar Company will pay about 18.427 million dollars on November 20 to beet growers in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana as the first payment on beets delivered through November 4. With anticipated sugar act payments, initial returns rise to about 40.32 million for this crop portion. Checks go to around 8,000 growers from 18 factories. the crop averages 14.52 tons per acre.

Polio Victims List Grows to Eleven in Cheyenne County
Cheyenne County March of Dimes chairman John W. Martinosky reports eleven polio victims in the district. The latest case is Carol Heine, 11, daughter of Herbert and Mrs. Heine of Dalton, hospitalized in Scottsbluff. Previous case Dorothy Ketteler, Dalton, daughter of Anton and Mrs. Ketteler, also convalescing at home after illness during the teachers convention.

900 Landlords Sign By Monday
By Monday noon a total of 900 landlords registered with the Sidney Area office at 1015 Illinois street. Registrations are rising and expected to continue. 300 Attend 4-H Program Here Friday
More than three hundred persons attended the 1951 4-H Achievement Program in Cheyenne County with a banquet, program, and awards. The highlight was 18 clubs or 66 percent of the total finishing projects, the best county record in years. Leaders Violet Shepherd and Ivan Liljegren thanked participants as Bob Hawkins presided.

Sidney’s first homecoming since 1929 honored its two oldest graduates, Mrs. Rebecca Doran Baker 1894 and Guy V. Doran 1899, amid festivities marking a half century of progress. Two new Cheyenne County Farm Bureau board members were named Ralph A. Sidney High School director Dean Killion invites all out of school residents interested in playing in a community band to an organization meeting Monday night November 26 at 7 30 in the high school band room. Plans for practice sessions and public appearances will be discussed. The band aims to serve the town and welcomes players even without instruments to join and arrange needed gear.
