Former Sidney Resident J Coulter Hudson Dies in Washington
Information reaches The Telegraph that J Coulter Hudson died about a month ago in Washington D C. He lived in Sidney for many years as a soldier at Fort Sidney before resigning and becoming a respected citizen active in dramatic art and home talent productions. He and Mrs Hudson and son William moved to Washington about 20 years ago where they remained. William, a World War I officer, is now a lawyer in New Mexico.

Levy Recommendation For State Capitol Funding

Restaurant employee fined for driving while intoxicated
Rock D. Spraggis, a local restaurant employee, was fined 30 dollars and costs and suspended from driving for six months after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated. His car collided with Dr. C. W. Zike’s machine driven by Fanna bell Zike on Friday. The running board and fender of the Zike car were badly damaged. Spraggis agreed to cover the damage.

City Power Plant Needs New Engine to Handle Load
Sidney Municipal Service Manager Ed Poquette told the city council that uninterrupted electric service will require adding or replacing engines. He cited a 30 percent rise in business over two years, with monthly kWh increasing from 90 000 to 125 000 and street light load adding about 6 000 kWh per month. The 400 kw engine from 1921 is critical. if it fails, the remaining units cannot meet peak demand. Poquette asked permission to hire consulting engineers to bid on a thorough equipment study for next steps.
