VFW Seeks Students for Voice of Democracy Essay Contest
The 30th annual Voice of Democracy National Broadcast Scriptwriting Scholarship Program sponsored by VFW and Ladies Auxiliaries invites high school juniors and seniors to participate. State winners receive a five day all expense paid trip to Washington DC and a chance at national scholarships based on their interpretation of the theme What America Means to Me.

Nebraska Theatre Caravan stages Shakespeare at assembly
Linda Rodrick leads a six to eight member cast from Nebraska and other states in a Boar's Head Tavern setting. The program included scenes from Midsummer Night's Dream, The Taming of the Shrew and Twelfth Night plus Comedy of Errors and Henry the Eighth. The troupe closed with Richard the Third before touring Wyoming.

Parent Teacher Conferences Net 85 Percent in Sidney Schools
The third annual Parent-Teacher Conferences were held in Sidney Public Schools with Junior and Senior High sessions in the Senior High Cafeteria and Auditorium. About 85 percent of parents attended and received grade cards. many attendees did not register with the office.

Swanstrom Wins Century III Leaders Scholarship Honor
Nick Swanstrom of Sidney High has won the local Century III Leaders scholarship contest as part of a nationwide program awarding 116500 in state and national scholarships. Winners compete for two 1000 scholarships and a 10000 top national prize, with Nebraska recipients earning an all expenses paid trip to Williamsburg in March 1977 for the national meeting and seminars.
