Postmaster Urges Early Mailing For Christmas

Acting Postmaster Weldon Stewart urged Sidney residents to mail Christmas cards and parcels early to ease processing. He said all local facilities will run at maximum service to clear Sidney mail by Christmas and stressed that arrival date is less important than thoughtful addressing and timely mailing.

Community Thanksgiving Service Set at First Methodist Church

A Community Thanksgiving Service is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 30 PM at First Methodist Church in Sidney under the Sidney Ministers Association. The service includes worship, invocation, litany, scripture reading, thanksgiving prayer and a sermon titled I Will Give Thanks by Rev No man Lowry. Music will be provided by a union choir with organist Ruth J Daves.

Sidney Moore Dead longtime Sidney resident dies at 60

Sidney A Moore 60 lifelong Sidney resident died Saturday at Cheyenne Memorial Hospital after major surgery. He was a veteran of World War I and former Sidney Chief of Police. Funeral from St Patrick's Church at 9 am with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Survived by wife Elizabeth, daughter Patricia Jenks, three grandchildren, sister Ruth Klemmer, and brother Glenn H. Moore.

Public Invited To VOD Contest In Sidney Auditorium

Five Cheyenne County high schools will be represented in the Jaycees Voice of Democracy contest at 2 p.m. in the Sidney high scene auditorium. Winners from Pouter Dalton Lodge Pole Sidney high and St Patrick's will compete for state eligibility on December 6. Prizes go to the top three winners and each school champion receives a gift. Marilyn Portz of St Patrick's won last year. The topic is I Speak For Democracy.

Trailways Blue Moon Depot Opens at Former Jolly Rancher Site

Trailways Depot and Blue Moon luncheonette open tomorrow at 17th and Illinois in the former Jolly Rancher location. Herman and Mrs Jurgens operate the new firm with City Cab service to be added later. Continental Trailways runs three daily buses to Denver and south, four buses coast to coast. Free coffee from 8:30 am to 2 pm, with breakfast lunch and fountain service at the luncheonette.

Dalton farmer Hugh Foy 76 dies after short illness

Hugh Foy 76 a Dalton farmer died Saturday afternoon in Cheyenne County memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral at St Mary's Dalton Wednesday at 9 30 with burial in Greenwood Sidney. He was born July 12 1880 near Snyder and leaves three daughters Margaret Ann Denver Mary Kauffman and LaVerne Washauer and son Edward J of Sidney plus a sister and a brother. He was a longtime Farmers Mutual Home Insurance representative and a member of the Knights of Columbus St Mary's Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Memorials to St Mary's Church are suggested.

Ralph Welch Nominated To Lead Sidney Chamber

Thanksgiving Dance Planned Thursday by Sidney Joyce’s Orchestra
