ANCA Tour Seeks Federal Action on Beef Profits

Ground water declines in Southwest Nebraska
Ground water levels in parts of Southwest Nebraska dropped one to six feet due to drought in the summer. A survey by the Middle Republican Natural Resources District covered 52 irrigation wells across Red Willow Hitchcock Hayes Frontier and parts of Lincoln counties with one site down 14 feet. Readings show the Blue River Basin area hardest hit with declines up to 30 feet in some counties. University of Nebraska staff Charles Fenster and Lewis Nelson will present the findings at a Wheat Clinic meeting Tuesday at 7 30 p m in Sidney Courthouse basement, sponsored by the County Extension Service.
