Two Women Injured In Highway 30 Wreck Near Wyoming
Mrs Donald Enevoldsen of Potter and her mother Mrs Paul Phipps Sr of Bushnell were treated at Kimball hospital for severe injuries after their car overturned on Highway 30 near the Wyoming border. The vehicle rolled two and a half times and landed on its left side in a ditch. Both occupants were thrown clear. truck driver aid arrived shortly after. Mrs Enevoldsen had forehead bruises and scalp lacerations. Mrs Phipps suffered leg contusions, a fractured right collarbone, and other bruises. Estimated damage to the car was 1200 dollars.

Dewey Increases Lead After Mail Vote Count
Governor Thomas E. Dewey gained fifty six of ninety four mail votes, widening his county lead over President Truman to two thousand one hundred sixty one to two thousand one hundred thirty nine. The canvass was held last week with mail ballots opened Friday, overturning earlier unofficial results that had Dewey ahead by five. No other county races were affected.

Winners of children s classical books were awarded in book mark and book jacket design contests in Sidney observed as National Children s Book Week. Judy Crosswhite and Howard Maley won the bookmark contest for Grades 1 and 2. Schmidt Rites Set At Potter
Aell known Potter resident August Schmidt 63 died Saturday in a Denver hospital after 24 days of hospitalization. Funeral at First Lutheran Church Potter today with Rev Waldemar Gies. Burial in Potter cemetery. Survived by three children Wayne Eugene Schmidt Lennart Johnson, his mother Anna Schmidt, a brother Emil, a sister Mrs W C Nielsen, and five grandchildren. He was a longtime member of the church and served 24 years on the Potter school board. He worked at Sioux Ordnance Depot from 1942 until August. Burial with Craig Mortuary handling arrangements.
