An ice and snow storm in Colorado Idaho? between Archer and Hayden cut power to parts of Nebraska Colorado and Wyoming. The Sidney outage began about 1 15 am with a 230 000 volt Bureau of Reclamation line downed causing 20 minutes to two hours of darkness. Fires in Sterling burglar alarms and a boxcar fire in Roscoe followed the outage with lawmen seizing a gunman at a gas station and two officers siphoning fuel due to pumps being dead. Damages at Northeastern Junior College were estimated at 265 dollars from broken windows.

Derailment near Potter disrupts rail traffic in Nebraska
A Saturday morning freight derailment near Potter Nebraska derailed 19th through 62nd cars on an eastbound Union Pacific train. A broken wheel is reported as the probable cause with several hundred yards of track damaged and cars jammed together. No injuries were reported and traffic was restored by Sunday afternoon after a shoo fly track was installed.
