Sidney City Council examined a 25 to 50 year master plan for expanding the sanitary landfill. The plan would extend the site about 000 feet west of the Burlington Northern tracks, nearly doubling the current 1.4 million square feet. A new service road would run along the eastern edge, with seeding and landscaping to start next spring. WNTC student work on the 700 foot trench would cost the city about 11,000 less than private contractors, given fuel and meals supplied by the city.
