The city prepares to switch to a new electric light and service plant described as a compact, finely finished facility. The engines run with little friction, producing minimal noise. heat and power will be supplied gradually without service interruption. Consumers will gradually transfer to the new lines as voltage is maintained until full transition.
A public notice warns that new electric lines carry 2200 volts, nearly double the lethal amount. It urges immediate reporting to the power house via telephone if a wire breaks and cautions against any contact. Inside wiring is said to pose no greater danger than the old system.
The notice appeals to rural readers to resume neighborhood news reports for the paper. It notes strong reader interest from distant areas and asks communities without regular correspondents to contact the paper to secure one.
M Lee Daniel of Columbus Nebraska arrived Thursday to assume possession of the Hall photograph gallery which he has rented. He comes with first class recommendations.
Sheriff McDaniel arrived from Lander Wyoming with prisoner Ernest Dulligan charged with stealing horses from the Sidney Draw range. Dulligan pleaded guilty at arraignment and awaits sentence before District Judge Grimes.
A Cheyenne County Teachers' Association meeting was held October 30 in Potter at the high school. The program proceeded as planned with excellent local music and educational moving pictures. The session attracted a large turnout of teachers and patrons, making it a helpful inspirational gathering.
The Providence Chapter Order of the Eastern Star welcomed Grand Worthy Matron Mrs. Harriet Willett of McCook for a notable visit. Officers wore white, a crimson carpet highlighted floor work, and a school of instruction followed a lively social with a two course luncheon. Eighty members attended with guests Mrs. Priestly of Fremont and Mrs. Caldwell of Kimball.
Mrs W A Reed celebrates the arrival of her two sons aged eleven and thirteen who will reside in Sidney to enjoy the town’s schools. The elder boy is recovering from a gunshot wound in his leg and still uses crutches.
At the Methodist official board monthly meeting the crowded Sunday school and limited space prompted a plan for a larger church. A committee will seek building plans to present for board approval, aiming for a structure in harmony with surroundings that reflects credit and beauty to the city.
Robert Emanuelson Jr. son of former County Commissioner Emanuelson of Lodgepole suffered a serious accidental rifle discharge last Sunday. The weapon went off near his side tearing flesh along the shoulder grazing the cheek and cutting an ear. The injury is described as a deep flesh wound covering a large area.
David Jones and E P Swan celebrated birthdays at the Hornaday store last Monday. Mrs Breternitz baked and decorated a cake which coworkers hid for future use. The cake was rediscovered and re hid. In the evening Swan and Jones and their wives enjoyed the last crumb while other clerks drank city water in surprise.
The past week brought light flurries and a realization that winter lingers. A Sunday wind was strong but not as high as two weeks earlier, followed by Jack Frost. The days stayed nippy all week with Wednesday night snow and heavier snowfall Thursday morning. If careless, it may continue until it acts more decisively.
Booths will bring fine crafts and the famous Catholic ladies will serve a big chicken supper. Cats are expected to be well behaved and there will be plenty of them at the event hosted by the Catholic ladies.
Judge Chambers E J Sweet and H F Fleming returned Monday from a fishing outing in the tri state canal country. They spent a day with Prof R O Chambers at Minatare and planned to join the group for the weekend. The party fished the tri state dam catching fine pike and noted a marvelous change in the north river country over two years.

Two hundred eleven scenes across five parts cost over fifty thousand dollars. Premiere at the Ideal Theatre Friday November 12.
Mrs Emily Pfeiffer gave an afternoon luncheon for Miss Agnes Mikkelsen, soon to wed Mr. Matt Treinen. Mikkelsen is praised for her lovable disposition and helpfulness and receives many congratulations and best wishes from friends on her approaching marriage.
Mrs. Gates entertained Tuesday afternoon honoring her niece Miss Mikkelsen. Friends showered her with essential utensils for a 1915 model farmhouse, noting the luncheon and event were as merry as a wedding bell and upheld the hostess’s reputation.
Mrs. W. E. Swatzkander gave a large pretty party Thursday afternoon. Eight tables were devoted to 500 which increases in interest as skill develops. After the game a two course luncheon was served. Rooms showed fall chrysanthemums and pretty decorations.
Mrs Art Miller of North Divide recounts a Sunday incident when a gentle team bolted a buggy with her two month old baby inside. She was knocked down multiple times as she managed to restrain the animals and tie them to a fence. The baby suffered a broken elbow and both mother and child are recovering, with a Gurley doctor attending.
County Commissioners began a midweek tour to re appraise every section 16 and 36 of the county. The drive covers about seventy school sections with sparse direct roads between them, and map readers can follow the route on the county map.
Mr. Brush, south of Marlow, suffered a loss last Friday when six wheat stacks burned. Thresher William Witzel was using Frank Ackerman's separator, replacing Brush's own, which was out of repair. A spark ignited the wheat and the separator was destroyed before it could be saved. Some insurance covered the loss.

A license to wed was granted November 8 to John Engel and Miss Emma Rohde of the north divide. No particulars of the happy event are provided.
Emil Larson of Denver and Isabell Lamont of Longmont were married in Sidney on November 8 at the County Court House, tying the knot in a simple city ceremony.

J W Harper came back Tuesday from Bayard and nearby to collect rents on his farm lands. Mr and Mrs Bob Douglas of North Platte visited Monday and stayed with cousins the Bassett family and Mrs J D McIntosh.
N. W. Olson came back Sunday from a month in San Francisco and other places of interest in California. He enjoyed every minute of the trip.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Oberfelder departed Sunday morning for Excelsior Springs Missouri. Mrs Oberfelder will try the waters for a month or longer.
Fred Kerkow and his wife from Scribner Nebraska paused Sunday while traveling to the coast and spent several days with their cousins L Neubauer and Miss Neubauer.
L F Cunningham and his wife visited the county seat on Saturday to inspect the high school records of their children Warren and Mattie. The couple looked over student files and discussed academic progress with school officials during their brief stop.
Mrs J D Mcintosh of Idaho Falls Idaho on an extended visit with sister Mrs W F Bassett. She has not been in Sidney for twenty eight years and notes numerous radical changes in the town.
David Jones McKinley Bryan and Misses Jessie Mildred McCann enjoyed pleasant weather Sunday driving to Bridgeport by auto. They used a little gas on the trip up but returned home swiftly on favorable winds.
A mixed freight derailed Saturday night on the Union Pacific at Pine Bluff due to a hot journal. Traffic halted for hours as passenger trains were assembled in the yards. The line was cleared around ten o clock Sunday morning.
Francis Herbert reports hundreds of tons of sugar beets are being dug and loaded in the South Platte Valley between Sterling and Denver. The roads are in bad condition there, while the Denver Cheyenne Highway remains in excellent shape after a four day motorcycle tour of Colorado and Wyoming.
Chris Hickey of Fairbury Nebraska accompanied by H. C. Casselman was seen in the city on business early in the week.
