Last Saturday two Potter children aged ten and twelve were brought before United States Commissioner Joseph Oberfelder on a federal charge of breaking into the post office and stealing eight dollars from the cash register. The pair, a brother and sister, were found to have left at five in the morning after indulging in sweets around town. After a week of proceedings the case was placed in the custody of deputy sheriff George Gunderson of Potter. Their mother’s absence and a hesitant stepfather were noted as context for the youth.
