At Sidney City Auditorium an invocation by Rev. Harold B. Taylor precedes selections by the Sidney High School Band. A 2 PM football game follows with Sidney facing Chappell.
Floyd Miller of Gurley topped the Nebraska State Wheat Show in Hastings earning the Wheat King title. Elmquist, winner of the last three state titles, took Tunnerup honors with C. J. Ramig placing second reserve in open class. About 70 samples were entered from Cheyenne County and the county contributed many top entries in certified and open classes.
Christine Pivonka of Lodgepole, a University of Nebraska student, joins thirty Nebraska Weslayan and Doane College peers for a United Nations Seminar in New York City. The group travels by chartered bus, attends sessions at the United Nations building, and plans interviews with foreign delegations before returning to Lincoln on November 18.
The Sidney National Bank plans a formal opening this Saturday November 15 marking the first new bank here in over twenty years. Clarence Castner will serve as vice president and bank manager. The Castner family recently moved from Ashland and are staying at the Couch Hotel until arrangements are made.

Martin W. Dimery, a prominent Nebraska figure in banking, law, real estate, farming and politics, dies in Sidney. He served in the state senate at 23, later as executive secretary to Gov. Sheldon, and held multiple civic roles including Lions Club and Mason. Funeral set for Wednesday at 2 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Sidney.
Two youngsters were injured in a two car collision on a dead end county road two miles north and one mile east of Sidney Sunday night at 10 30. Eileen Westerhoff 14 of Sidney suffered a broken bone and gashes. Don Smith sustained facial lacerations. Vehicles involved were a 1949 Plymouth owned by Ervin Fisher driven by Dale Fisher 15 and a 1939 Oldsmobile owned by Chuck Dalton driven by Leighton Kesselring 15, both of Sidney. Damages were estimated at 400 and 250 dollars. Charges filed include improper use of school permit and learner permit plus reckless driving for Dale Fisher and Ervin Fisher. and permitting a minor or an unauthorized operator for the others.
