Phone Company Awards Contract for New Sidney Building
The Northwestern Bell Telephone company in Sidney awards Phillips & Sons of Sidney and North Platte the contract to construct a brick one story with basement building at First Avenue West and Third Street opposite the M E church. Dell J. Phillips will direct the project, recently completed Taylor hospital. The 31 by 60 foot facility will modernize service, switch from magneto to common battery, and house the business office and new switchboard. Every Sidney town member will receive a tele switchboard once installed. Continued on page 7.

Bright child dies of cerebral hemorrhage near Sidney
Dorothy Ann Wellner eight months old daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Wellner prominent residents northwest of Sidney died Monday evening November 7 after a brief illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. Born February 25 1927 in Sidney she passed away at home after rapid decline. High mass funeral at St Patrick's Catholic church Rev Father Link officiated burial in Catholic cemetery with Howard's Funeral Service in charge. She is survived by her parents three sisters and four brothers.

Tentative programs for the western Nebraska Organized Agriculture meeting to be held in Sidney on December 7, 8, and 9 will be mailed to county extension offices and Smith Hughes instructors. Men and women will share talks December 7, women occupy Thursday sessions, then a joint session Friday. The Nebraska Potato Improvement Association will hold its annual meeting and show with a big meeting on December 9. A second annual fun feed features George Jackson, with Governor McMullen invited to speak. A potato show, corn and small seeds show, and a poultry show accompany the gathering.
