Cheyenne county voters packed polling places in the Tuesday general election, producing record totals in every precinct. Hoover won the county by 956 votes out of 3028, with Bryan carrying more in the governor race. Congressman Simmons led party returns, and Sidney precincts reported a near five hundred vote surge. New Officers Elected at American Legion Auxiliary Meeting

Sidney Boy Scout Council Chooses Nebraska HQ
The Sidney Boy Scout Council voted to separate from the Southern Wyoming jurisdiction and operate independently. Under the new org, funds previously sent to Wyoming will go to three local scoutmasters. A three member committee including Paul Martin, Dr R E Roche and W M Winders will plan the year.

Altar Society Plans Annual Bazaar at St Patrick’s
The Altar Society met Thursday afternoon to finalize arrangements for the upcoming bazaar and fun festival at St Patrick’s auditorium next Wednesday and Thursday. Hostesses Mrs R A Barlow Mrs Fred Krause Mrs Oscar Fisher and Mrs Leo Hand attended and lunch was served. The event features suppers at five with dancing at nine and booths selling needlework and art.

North Platte valley turkeys sold by coop marketing group
Four carloads of turkeys from the North Platte valley were sold Monday through the N P W cooperative poultry marketing association. Swift and Company paid the top bids, with 38 percent for No 1 hens and young toms, 28 percent for No 2s, and 31 percent for old toms. Over 9 000 birds were listed, to be dressed by growers and delivered next week.

Albers and Brown Given 30 Days and Fines
Carl Albers and Ben Brown were sentenced to 30 days at hard labor and fined 500 dollars plus costs each by Judge J. L. Tewell for manufacture possession and sale of liquor. Pleas of guilty were entered. Brown was jailed since October 10 after arrest on a still claim. Albers was jailed the same week after being captured November 5.

Republican ticket sweeps Nebraska election last Tuesday
In Nebraska the entire Republican state slate won, with Hoover carrying the state by over 90 thousand votes as returns from 1,307 of 1,967 precincts show Hoover 235,312 to Smith 147,165. Howell leads Metcalfe. Sorensen leads Bryan by about 40 thousand for governor. Sorensen and Sorensen’s war record noted amid sweep.

De Molay Stage Prologue At Theatre Opens Mystery Show
Six members of the De Molay chapter staged a 20 minute mystery play as a prologue to The Cat and the Canary on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The production, directed by Frederick Ahrens, created an atmosphere of horror ahead of the feature. De Molay members handled ticket sales and directed proceeds to chapter benefits.

Funeral Service for Baby Lyngholm Held in Sidney
Funeral services for Marvin LaVerne Lyngholm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lyngholm of near Bronson, were held Wednesday at one o clock in the Howard chapel. The infant died Tuesday at one month and seventeen days old. Rev W T Kahse officiated. Mrs Ed Ahren sang Precious Jewels and Safe in the Arms of Jesus with piano accompaniment by Mrs Harold Ells. Burial was in Sidney cemetery.

Victim Identified in Dalton Road Accident
The unidentified man found dead after a Dalton area accident is George Stockwell of Michigan. A Michigan reformatory letter confirmed his identity. Sheriff Nelson notified Stockwell’s relatives and offered to cover funeral expenses if located. Stockwell had prior sentences and drove a Cole trucking truck near Dalton when killed.

The annual Armistice Day game between Sidney and Kimball high schools will be played Monday on the Kimball field. Sidney has won all five prior meetings, with scores listed from 1920 to 1927. Kimball, led by Captain White and center Reardon, is expected to provide a hard fought challenge as Sidney, the Maroons, drill hard for a holiday crowd.

Deere buys warehouse site from Farmers Elevator in town
John Deere Company representatives reportedly closed a deal with Farmers Elevator for a plot on the west side of Thirteenth avenue between Illinois and Hickory streets. The site along Union Pacific tracks is expected to host a large warehouse for the western Nebraska distributor. L. T. Poole is resident manager of Deere’s north Tenth avenue building.
