Soldier dies after beating ride near Margate
The body of Patrick F. Kane of Battery B Fort Russell Wyoming was found a mile west of Margate early Wednesday. He and two companions Crow and Henry were reportedly drunk in Cheyenne and did not know where they were headed. Kane had $35 and a sister and mother in Walla Walla Washington. United States officers will handle disposition of the body.

Lodgepole Honors Her Volunteer Boys Farewell Night
Lodgepole held a crowded farewell for her soldier volunteers at the opera house. W. P. Miles spoke with patriotic zeal as a large flag and many tiny flags showered over the volunteers. Following the program, guests moved to the hotel for an oyster supper and dancing at the opera house until midnight.

Pioneer valley citizen dies after brief stomach illness
A pioneer resident in the valley west died at three o clock Thursday morning at his home after less than two days of stomach trouble that had not threatened him before. He ate supper Wednesday with his family, while Grant was away traveling. The children returned home except Grant, and arrangements will be announced next week as details are not yet set.
