John Cawley died October 29 1917 in Sidney Nebraska after a week long illness at nearly ninety. Born February 10 1828 in Roanoke Virginia he lived long as a citizen of Cheyenne county. He married Katherine Lantz in 1856 in Elkhart Indiana and had ten children nine living. she died in 1880. He later wed Mrs. Margaret Childers who died 1910. Funeral was held Thursday at the Christian church with Rev Langston delivering the sermon. Interment in Green Lawn Cemetery. pallbearers listed among local men. funeral cortege observed by many.
