Kimball district scouts discussed the annual meeting to be held November 16 in Kimball during a victory meeting at the Presbyterian church basement. Vergal Winn directed a forty five minute Koda Chrome slide program from camp and spoke on Indian Day. A new troop in Bushnell and a Cub pack in Dix were reported to be established with local sponsorships.

Alliance Air Base to Sell Surplus Property and Salvage
Alliance Army Air Base will invite bids around December 1 for surplus property and salvage sale to firms and individuals. Colonel Clarence J. Galligan said sealed bids will be opened publicly and contracts awarded to the highest bidder. Items include electrical and plumbing supplies, hardware, tools, fittings, textiles, scrap metal, and various packaged goods at the Alliance base with two weeks of inspection.

Armistice Day Observances Planned for Monday
The American Legion outlines the Armistice Day program set for Monday November 12 since the holiday falls on Sunday. A severe ptomaine poisoning contracted during a Denver trip last month caused the death Thursday evening of Joseph J Ladine 44 a prominent Dalton farmer. He died in a local hospital where he was taken Oct 21 after failing to respond to treatment. He accompanied Bud Nichols to Denver and they had planned a western slope trip. They ate in a small town near Denver and Ladine became ill while Nichols felt mild effects. Ladine returned home by train and was cared for by his mother and sister in Sidney.

Babcock Cleared in Colorado Auto Truck Crash
R A Babcock was exonerated of blame after an October 14 crash near Denver when he collided with a beer truck. In a Keenseburg trial, the truck owner was fined on two counts for letting an underage driver operate without a license and for traffic violations crossing in front of an oncoming car. Evidence showed the truck pulled from behind another stopped beer truck, leaving Babcock with no avoidance.

A busy building period appears ahead in Sidney as seven building permits were approved including a cabin camp project by Wes Berry on West Illinois Street costing 18 000 with a plan for a 6 000 house and six cabins each side totaling 12 000. A 25 000 garage on Illinois and 14th Avenue by Lee Maddox was filed for but held until next council session. Also approved was an exclusive garbage hauling contract with Eugene E Smith. Pilot Norman Fisher 28 Dies in Pacific SB-30 Crash
Norman Fisher 28, pilot of a Consolidated Airlines SB-30, perished when his Honolulu to San Francisco flight crashed 450 miles northeast of Hawaii. Eight survivors and seven bodies were recovered. Fisher, a six year pilot with Consolidated, was visiting Potter with his wife Catherine Wickhorst before returning to Walnut Creek Calif. The crash followed engine trouble. search via Navy ships, bombers, and carrier planes continued for 12 missing.
