Three Wrecks Reported and a St Pat's Loss Thrills
Three weekend wrecks were reported by the Nebraska Highway Safety Patrol with minor injuries and heavy damages. Bonifacio D. Gutierrez, 23, SOD, escaped hospitalization after his 1949 Buick overturned on Highway 30 near Sidney. A collision near Lodgepole involved Wm. C. Dickinson and Meryl T. Lewins in a 1952 Ford and a Greyhound bus, with $130 total damages. A second two-car crash near Dix on a county road caused $600 in damages. St Pat’s Fighting Irish lost 13-6 to Benkelman, with Pflum scoring for St Pat’s and a late safety sealing the win for Benkelman. Coach Dykal praised defense but criticized downfield blocking.
