First Annual Bike Rodeo Attracts Local Youth Riders

The Sidney Junior Chamber of Commerce staged a Sunday bicycle rodeo north of the high school drawing about 50 young riders. The event taught bicycle safety with maneuvers like circling, balance, weaving, and hand signals, using hazard lanes and night time safety gear. Jerry Robbins headed Jaycees with a committee, awarding winners across age groups from 11 to 14 in both girls and boys divisions. All entrants reportedly used Scotch tape for visibility and safety.
