4 H Judging Day Set For Cheyenne County
All Cheyenne County 4 H members in agricultural and livestock clubs will gather Monday June 3 at the McMillan ranch for a practical livestock judging clinic. Plans call for assembly 8 30 to 9 30 A M in front of the county courthouse and then proceed to the ranch. Verlin Livingston and Ray Cruise help prepare with the county agent office and Cruise serves as official judge teaching the proper reasons for placings. Members parents and leaders are invited and lunch should be brought as judging extends into the afternoon.

Paroled Sheriff Sullivan Case Stirs County Court
Robert Sullivan, bound over to District Court after pleading guilty to car theft, was paroled by Judge J. L. Tewell on Wednesday for two years. The order names Sheriff W. W. Schulz as parolee. Sullivan allegedly took a Ben King panel truck on West Illinois Street and drove it toward the highway junction east of town, ending in a ditch.

Experts Note Less Damage Than Feared To Wheat
Cheyenne county wheat growers hosted two College of Agriculture specialists on May 27 to survey winter wheat damage from freezing. Kiesselbach and Livingston found limited injury within the county as heads were still in boot. They observed more severe damage about 100 miles east where heads were nearer emergence. Fertilization and development appeared normal in many inspected heads, with few killed stems and potential normal yield under some reduction. Continued assessment noted on page 6.

Ten hundredths fell during Monday’s storm, with the rest coming Wednesday afternoon through the night. A heavy hail storm occurred in the Peetz area, mainly causing damage in Colorado, while some hail was noted in the south Sidney territory. Cold, disagreeable conditions persisted most days.

Qualifying For Golf Match Starts Sunday
Sidney golfers must begin qualifying on Sunday to pick ten players for the Platte Valley league team to play June 9. Qualifying may occur any time through Friday evening and cards should be left with Golf Chairman P. J. Heaton. The June 9 match is the second inter club event with Alliance, two Scottsbluffs, and Sterling, following Sterling's May 19 results. The Sidney course outside nine holes are being prepared for use to help players reacquaint with the tougher sections.

Sam Cassaro faces a manslaughter charge in the death of Clar ence Baker a North Platte railroad man. A preliminary hearing Monday found sufficient evidence of a crime. Cassaro bound for district court with bond raised to 10000 but not posted and he remains in jail. A habeas corpus hearing is set for Saturday before Judge J L Tewell. High winds up to sixty miles an hour struck Lorenzo and the Sioux Ordnance Depot causing $300,000 to $500,000 in damage. Sixty one storage pads lost roofs, many destroyed. repairs will be extensive. Affected areas include Lorenzo School, barns, a car, and a Cadillac. Insurance adjustors handle claims as lines were damaged and dust settled after rain.
