In Dawes County the predator control association reports 459 coyotes caught this year, the largest tally yet, with continued effort needed to free ranching country. The program began in 1942 amid sheep losses, yielding 1,715 coyotes and 29 bobcats by trappers Frank Marcal and Elmer Sternhagen, funded by county, federal, and association members.

Twelve Injured As Burlington Bus Overturns Twice
Twelve persons were injured when an eastbound Burlington bus overturned twice about a half mile west of Dix Sunday night. Five are seriously hurt and hospitalized at Kimball. Driver James Nelson of Cheyenne suffered a broken leg. A westbound car driven by Lyle Evertson, 16, Kimball, clipped the bus causing the crash. Forty passengers were aboard. all escaped through the windshield as flames from a battery wiring fire were quickly controlled.

Jim Kubik Dies Renowned Union Pacific Engineer
Jim Kubik, a veteran Union Pacific engineer who retired and was pensioned three years ago, died at his Cheyenne home Sunday night. He was one of the best known figures on the fourth district line between Sidney and Cheyenne, famed for humorous eccentricities. In his final years he piloted the Cheyenne Gering passenger run on the so called pea vine.
