State oil production rose last week to 52,432 barrels daily as roads reopened for transport.

Beet Growers To Share In Hiked Sugar Allotment
United States Department of Agriculture assigns an additional 58 870 tons of sugar to the U S beet sugar industry as part of a 150 000 ton deficit in Puerto Rican cane sugar. American Crystal Sugar Great Western Sugar and Holly Sugar, operating in Colorado and neighboring states, share about 54 million pounds from the new quota. Previous 1956 57 production by these three firms totaled over two billion pounds, sustaining their lead among the beet sugar companies.

Freedom Is Brief For Texan Freed From Penitentiary
Floyd R. Srader after release from the Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville was met by Cheyenne County deputy Sheriff Kermit Brumbaugh and returned to Nebraska. In Sidney he was bound over to district court on forgery charges for writing and cashing a $128 Oklahoma bank check dated April 27, 1955, to E C Ray and signed M A White. He pleaded guilty to the forgery bond and remains held on a $1,000 bond awaiting district court.

Mrs. W. Mayes aged 77 mother of Mrs. Frank Bean died last Wednesday in a Chanute Kansas hospital where she had been a patient for 15 months. Mrs Bean and Mrs Carl Futschson left Tuesday night after a message stated her condition was critical. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Chanute. The ladies returned home yesterday after a brief visit in Pittsburg Kansas.

Missouri man receives three year theft sentence
Robert G. Green, 23, of Bowling Green, Missouri, was sentenced to three years in the Nebraska State Penitentiary by Cheyenne County District Court Judge I. J. Nisley after pleading guilty to grand larceny. He allegedly stole $150 on April 14 from the Pohlman residence northeast of Sidney where he lived with the family. Green was extradited after refusing to waive extradition and initially pleaded innocent before changing his plea in district court.
