Rites Thursday For Mrs. Bruns
Funeral services for Mrs. Harvey J. Bruns 72 were held at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. John Bunschuh officiating. Burial was in Chappell Cemetery. She died Monday after a three month illness, having spent winter in Mesa Arizona andHospitals in Sidney and Denver. Born June 5 1892 in Lorton Nebraska she married Harvey J. Bruns April 23 1912 at Talmage Nebraska. They moved to Devel County in 1917 and farmed. Survived by husband three sons Carl Glen Dale all of Chappell two daughters Irene Johnson Sedgwick Cole and Joan Devine Houston Texas seventeen grandchildren eleven great grandchildren one brother Ronald Bischoff Tal mage one sister Nora Steng Wheeling West Virginia.

The 2nd General Construction Platoon of Co. C 244th Engr Reserve at Scottsbluff received an excellent inspection under Lt. Col. Doughty of the 16th U.S. Army Corps. Commanded by W. O. James R. Paxton of Sidney, Nebraska, the 35-member unit will train two weeks at Ft. Polk La from June 6 to 20. They will travel via Cheyenne to Denver then airlift to Fort Polk for Operation Sky Thrust to test per unit airlift in a new location with available equipment and materials. Additional local participants include Ronald McMillan Sidney Forrest Jordan Dix and Jack Bratt Kimball.
