Western Nebraskans Get Crash Program Funds
About one eighth of the federal crash program highway funds will be spent in western Nebraska. Of 10 million dollars, 1.27 million is earmarked for western projects. Western sites include six miles of grading and pavement on U S Route 26 between Minatare and Bayard at 560,600 dollars, thirteen miles on State Route 27 south of Gordon including a new Niobrara River bridge at 710,008 dollars, and 11.83 miles of Route 30 between North Platte and Hershey at 520,000 dollars. The Route 30 widening will remove the wide archway sign at the west edge of North Platte, a tourist emblem. Contracts may be let June 12 or 19.

New Oil-Gas Map Of Nebraska Published
The Interior Department reports that the U S Geological Survey with the Nebraska Geological Survey has published a new oil and gas map of Nebraska. It shows test wells fields pipelines and geological features related to exploration. Maps cost $1 and are available through the Geological Survey in Denver and Washington.

Final Rites Today For Mrs Perry 58
Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church for Mrs Lester Perry 58 long time Sidney resident who died Thursday at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Rev Townsend officiated burial will be in Oakland California Chapel of the Chimes. Kimball plans three paving districts this summer
A large Kimball paving program unfolds this week, covering 30 blocks of pavement and three blocks of curb and gutter. Petitions for three paving districts and one curb and gutter district were filed with the City Clerk, with the Council expected to approve quickly so bids can be sought and work begun this summer. Sunnyview Heights is in one district including Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Fourth and Fifth Streets. Dowds Addition and Dowd's Second Addition each have paving districts on Cedar Locust Fifth Streets and the new drive in Dowd's Second Addition, while Rodman Court and Seventh Street are included in another. The curb and gutter plan covers Highway 30 from the Burg Locust alley northwest to the Highway 30 crossing at Mid-Continent Supply.

8000 Trees Planted in Conservation Area
Chappell Deuel County Soil and Water Conservation District planted over 8000 trees and shrubs this spring on twelve sites for cooperators. Myron Carlson planted a field windbreak and two livestock shelter belts one mile east of Lodgepole. The district tree planter rode on Carlson’s tractor and moved between farms. Carlson lent his truck and helped transport the tractor and planter. Dewayne Duffield worked on the Carlson ranch and operated the tractor for all plantings. Alvin Grabowski and co operators rode the planter and planted the trees.

Agincome Up Eight Percent in First Four Months
The Agriculture Department reports farmer receipts totaling about 9.1 billion dollars for the first four months of this year, eight percent above last year. Gains stem from higher prices with similar volumes, livestock receipts at 5.9 billion, up 12 percent, and crop receipts at 3.2 billion, up two percent. Wheat, tobacco, soybeans, and vegetables showed substantial increases in value.

Damage suit filed over combine crash near Sidney
