Tragic Cave Collapse Claims 14 Year Old Jay Phillips
Jay Phillips a 14 year old son of Mr and Mrs H B Phillips was buried under tons of earth when a cave roof collapsed in Lodgepole creek bank south of town last Saturday afternoon about two. Playmate Louie Taylor alerted E J Sweet nearby but rescuers arrived too late and the boy died despite a physician’s efforts. Funeral services were at the Methodist church Monday with many mourners including classmates from his school. Pallbearers were Orvin and Roy Phillips from Bushnell.

Word has been received of the death of Mrs Mary Clarke at Junction City Kansas She passed away Thursday May 17 after a long illness She was the mother of J W Clarke former cashier at the Union Pacific freight office in this city She lived in Sidney with her son during the summer of 4 and was highly esteemed Mr Clarke went to Ogden Utah from Sidney a few weeks ago and was with his mother at the time of death The community extends sincere sympathy to Mr Clarke.
