WNUCC Plans Meet On Nebraska Ranch Vacations

New Oil Seed Cranky Plant Trials in Cheyenne County

A new oil seed crop Cranky is being planted in Cheyenne County on an experimental basis with hopes it could be a spring seeded crop for idle acres. Ken Woodward of Pacific Vegetable Oils Corp Sidney says about a ton of Cranky seed has been distributed to interested farmers, with plots already set and expects 100 to 110 acres ready. PVO offers around $80 per ton for the Cranky seed this year.

Poverty Programs Questioned by Congressman Martin

Congressman Martin argues poverty is covered by 42 federal programs and criticizes a proposed 3 billion for new overlay. He cites federal spending of 8.7 billion last year aimed at alleviating poverty and says existing channels provide aid, urging taxpayers’ scrutiny. Two youths accused in triple arson set in Nebraska

Sidney Municipal Pool Opens June 4 For Season

The Sidney Municipal Pool will open at 1 30 p m Thursday June 4 with hours 1 30 to 9 p m on three nights weekly including Wednesdays and Fridays. Other days 1 30 to 7 p m. Admission free through age five, 20 cents ages six to 12, 35 cents ages 13 to 18, 50 cents 19 and older.
